B-Legend! Battle B-Daman (Japanese: B-伝説! バトルビーダマン, Bī-Densetsu! Batoru Bīdaman) is the anime series component of Battle B-Daman, the fourth generation of the B-Daman franchise. It first aired in January 2004 in Japan. It depicts B-Daman from the Zero, Zero 2, and Cartridge Systems of the toy line. B-Legend! Battle B-Daman was localized to English under the simple title "Battle B-Daman" at the direction of Hasbro, at the same time as they licensed and distributed an international version of the Zero Series toys, and was the first B-Daman anime series to be localized to English.
In Japan, a direct sequel series was released under the title Battle B-Daman: Fire Spirits!, which was localized to English twice: once in Canada with an abbreviated dub that only covered the first 26 episodes, and again with a complete redub in Singapore covering the entire run of the series. It was later succeeded in the fifth generation by Crash B-Daman, a new series with an all new cast and story.
Localization[]
It premiered in the United States in April 2005. It is the first show of the B-Daman series to be dubbed in English. In Japan, it airs on TV Tokyo. In the United States, it aired on the ABC Family programming block. In Canada it aired on YTV April 23, 2005, with the Canadian French dub of the show airing on Télétoon. In the United Kingdom, it aired on Toonami and Cartoon Network. In February 2007, the English dub of the second season commenced with a completely new voice cast, which some consider inferior dubbing compared to the first season. The Battle B-Daman manga was published in English by Chuang Yi.
The toyline was originally made by Takara and was released by Hasbro in North America, and by Sonokong in South Korea.
Plot[]
Season 1[]
The show is about Yamato Delgado (Yamato Daiwa in the Japanese version), who acquires the legendary B-Daman known as Cobalt Blade. He and his friends use the sport of B-Daman to fight against the nefarious Shadow Alliance. This show takes place in the B-DaWorld, where its inhabitants are humans, anthropomorphic animals, and humanoid robots.
Using the legendary B-Daman, Yamato enters the Winners' Tournament organized by the JBA (All-Japan B-Daman Association) (IBA (International B-Daman Association) in the English dub, KBA (All-Korean B-Daman Association) in the South Korean dub).
After Cobalt Blade is destroyed in a plot by the traitorous Cain McDonnell, it is re-built as Cobalt Saber, a B-Daman that is even more powerful than Cobalt Blade. Yamato uses Cobalt Saber to defeat the Shadow Alliance.
Season 2 (Fire Spirits!)[]
After defeating the Neo Shadow Alliance, Yamato is in search of special B-DaBalls called Strike Shots, which originated from shooting stars. After a fight with the mysterious Haja and obtaining his Strike Shot, the Drive Shot, Yamato then meets Gunnos, a rookie B-Daplayer. Yamato receives his own Strike Shot to participate in the Winners Tournament along with old friends and rivals. But little did they know, a terrible evil is about to put the B-DaWorld in peril once more.
