  • How have you been doing? Haven't heard from you in a while! School, everything good?

I've, very recently, started working on subbing Cross Fight B-Daman eS again! I've released 2 episodes in the last two days. It's such a great series, I forgot how awesome it is! I know I've been away for a while but I said I wouldn't give up on the series and here I am 4 years later, continuing the subs!! So many important things happened in those 4 years, main one being I finally acheived my lifelong dream of moving to Japan!! For the past two years I've been living and working in Japan and I LOVE IT!!! So happy I finally made my dream come true!! So for those 2 years before Japan, I was busy with trying to acheive my dream and for these last two years I've been living my dream!! It's been a life changing and amazing experience!! If one day you decide to come, I can show you around!! Not only that, but you now have a friend in Japan!! If you need anything form B-Daman or Beyblade, let me know and I'll help you out!!

During these past 2 years, living the dream here, I never once forgot about my promise to finish subbing the series. Thing is, I hardly had any free time. But recently I had some time so I decided to pick it up again! And although it's not very popular right now and nobody may be watching my releases at this moment, that's okay. When the new series gets announced next year, which it hopefully will, most B-Daman fans will want to rewatch the old series to get ready for the new one, so I want them all to be subbed by that time! So the fans can watch the show in Japanese with English subs and get ready for the new series! Then when the new series starts up I hope to sub that one as well! Well if you want to know more, I have written some blog posts about what happened, and the About Us section has been updated with a history section in case you're interested. Also I've been using YourUpload for the full episode files since YouTube has copyright issues and 3 of them have already been taken down. There's more info here if you have hte time to read it: bethemanfs.com

Anyways I see you're active in the WBO and subbbing the Beyblade series! That's so awesome!! Keep it up man!!! I wondered if you needed help but it looks like you have 3 translators so I think you're good lol I'd like to get in touch with you again so I'll see if I can find you on discord or something. I look forward to talking to you again Mana!

    Talk to you soon,

    D NES

  • Hi there, nice to meet you!

I'm a long-time B-Daman collector and I've recently been browsing this wiki a lot and thinking I could help out by filling in some of the missing information and fixing some of the dead links or missing pages and such.  I also happen to have a fair amount of older B-Daman toys from the Bakugaiden through EUnit eras, so I thought maybe it would be nice to start putting up information on those, especially in the products page where there are many uncreated pages. I speak some Japanese and have some close friends who are fluent speakers, so I might be able to assist with translations sometimes too.

I figured I'd better introduce myself and "ask permission" first before I run about doing a lot of editing, though!  Is there anything I should watch out for?  I noticed the manual of style is empty but of course I'll try to use existing templates and match existing page formats.

I also had a specific question about images.  I noticed that personal images are not allowed except for by admin approval.  What is the process for that approval?  I would love to take some decent macro photos of toys that I own and scan in their instructions, packaging, sticker sheets, and such.  Especially for some of the really old Bakugaiden and Super material, it seems like it would be easier than attempting to source "official" photos with known public licenses - since most of those never came to the USA,  the legal licensing status of their related images is kinda in limbo.

    • No problem!

Yeah, likewise! I love B-Daman, but I really need a new series to come out to completely rejuvenate my interest to what it once was. Right now, I put 99% of my focus into Beyblade due to my involvement in the WBO and managing things worldwide. If Takara-Tomy sticks to their hiatus plan, we should see B-Daman again by October 2019.

There isn't much of a legal basis for using copyrighted images. Obviously sometimes a fuss is kicked up but, for the most part, the Creative Commons license covers the use of things like that. Just information on copyright and ownership should be included in the file description where and when it is known.

    • Thanks for the help!  I've been continuing to clean things up as I find them.  In doing so, I've come up to another question.

Is there a particularly established convention for English naming vs. Japanese naming on the wiki?  Naturally, I'm trying to ensure that redirects exist so that searches in either naming scheme will lead to the right thing, although there's a few cases like "Force Dragren" that are pesky for namespacing reasons.

My natural instinct is to go with the original Japanese names, romanized more or less via Hepburn, in order to reduce confusion and preserve some of the puns and other wordplay in the original.  I noticed the pages for Cross Fight series B-Daman mostly use the official Hasbro localized names though, and I'm happy to use English for other things like character names too if that's the convention.

      Thanks again for your assistance!

  • Hello again. It's been a long while since our last conversation regarding my forum account and I can see that since then there have been major changes made to the forum (though these are not surprising to me). Can I confirm that this time around my account has finally been deleted along with all the other "spam" deleted accounts as per your announcement?

    • Sorry for the late reply, slipped under the radar.

I can't see any trace of your account within the member list, so I'd hazard a guess and say yes? If you can see otherwise, please let me know and I'll remove all traces you find.

    • That's ok, sorry for my late reply too! Life's been rather crazy. As far as I can see it's gone, but I don't know if there are other areas I'm not seeing as a guest rather than member. If I hear something from someone I'll let you know. Thank you very much for the offer to follow up and remove anything I find, I really appreciate the gesture as it means I don't have to worry about this anymore, it means a lot to me so thank you again.

  • Greetings- I am contacting you via this method as it is the only way I can as per the advice on your profile. I have long since left your B-Daman forums, and when I did I changed my username in order to protect my privacy and remove my personal information. I can see that a staff member on your forum has changed the name of the account to "bluesonic1". This is considered identity theft; please change the name back to one of a generic nature. If you are not willing to assist in making this change, I will be lodging a complaint to your hosting site with the assistance of the Federal Trade Commission (based on advice they have currently given me), and whatever consequences (monetary in nature or not) will fall to you as the administrator of the forum.

Thank you in advanced for any and all assistance in this matter, and I hope we can work through this with as little problems as possible.

    • That shouldn't have been possible. Perhaps I had a permission set wrong then, but interesting to know :P

You said yourself, those 5 remaining posts are on threads from 2 years ago, you're really not going to let this go just for that reason?

The issue isn't that as such. If I allowed this case, I'd have to also allow it to the others that have requested it as well otherwise it's just being unfair. I will say that this has made me re-consider the policy though, and I am currently looking into a system where users can completely close their accounts but have the posts remain delinked from a user account.

    • Alright then, all the best with that :) If you do, could it also contain a method for removing the user name from quoted posts and from the welcome bot message on the account's profile feed? And likewise, not have 'Name History' available to view?
