Rekuso, known in Japan as Rekkouryuu (Japanese: 烈紅龍, Rekkouryuu, "Fierce Crimson Dragon"), is a Zero System B-Daman equipped for rapid shooting with a high-capacity magazine. It is one member of the "twin dragons" pair. In Battle B-Daman fiction media, it is operated by trickster and magician Li Yong Fa.
Takara-Tomy's original Zero Series included this B-Daman as the Armor-only Rekkouryuu Armor kit, while the Hasbro Battle B-Daman Toy Line offered both the Rekuso standard full B-Daman kit as well as the Rekuso DHB set with exclusive deco-matched DHB Armor.
As one of the twin dragons, Rekkouryuu is a red-dragon-themed B-Daman with a distinctive magazine that specializes in rapid shooting. Conversely, its counterpart is a blue-dragon-themed B-Daman with a distinctive barrel specializing in accurate shooting. The twin dragons can combine with each other to form Bakuretsuryuu, a powerful B-Daman with the special features from both dragons.
Rekkouryuu is the second in the Red Dragon lineage, preceded by Kouseiryuu in the DHB Series. It was succeeded in turn by Kouryuuou and then Ryuuseiryuu.
In Battle B-Daman fictional media, Rekkouryuu is used by Li Yong Fa, the brother of Wen Yong Fa. In the B-Legend! Battle B-Daman manga it is his second B-Daman after Kouseiryuu, while the B-Legend! Battle B-Daman anime series skips Kouseiryuu and shows Wen using Rekkouryuu in his first appearance.
Toy Information
Rekkouryuu boasts numerous special features which all support its rapid-fire shooting playstyle. Its most notable component is its extended magazine which both expands its capacity to five marbles and also features a moulded funnel-like opening at the top that makes reloading slightly easier. In order support the weight of the magazine when fully loaded, Rekkouryuu also equips a set of claw-like struts on its heels that provide substantial rear stabilization. Due to the magazine being tall enough to block the view directly over the helmet, Rekkouryuu's helmet crest has a split V-like shape that makes its horns visible on either side of the magazine, allowing it to be used as an iron sight.
Parts are identical between releases unless otherwise noted, but some official part names differ by brand as indicated by the icons.
- Core -
B-Daman Zero/
IBA Body: Like every Zero System B-Daman, Rekkouryuu is built around a B-Daman Zero core. The Takara Tomy kit requires the builder to provide their own core, but the Hasbro kit includes an IBA body with a red housing, dark red limbs, and a yellow trigger and hold parts. - Helmet -
Dragon Head/
Maw Helmet and Level Sight: A red helmet sharing the same mould as Bakusouryuu's helmet. It resembles a dragon head, with the B-Daman's actual eyes hidden under a visor in the dragon's "mouth". The Level Sight crest part is the only piece using a different mould than Bakusouryuu's, in this case being a roughly V-shaped pair of horns that can be used as an iron sight even with a sizable magazine attached. Like Bakusouryuu's helmet parts, the crest and ear fins are made of soft rubbery plastic. - Magazine - Dragon Magazine: A long magazine with layered aesthetic moulding that allows Rekkouryuu to hold up to five marbles comfortably, three more than the base capacity of two. The top end of the magazine also features a slightly widened opening that makes reloading slightly easier. A sixth marble can be balanced somewhat precariously in this loading funnel area.
- Pauldrons - Dragon Shoulders: Asymmetric pauldrons with a layered armour design. The moulds used are identical to those of Bakusouryuu's pauldrons, but they are worn on opposite shoulders. One pauldron extends outwards while the other features a flat downward-hanging plate. The larger outward-extending pauldron is used in the Bakuretsuryuu combination, worn opposite the matching pauldron from Bakusouryuu to create a symmetrical pair of pauldrons with textured grip surfaces.
- Boots - Dragon Foot: Angular foot armour featuring three dragon-like claws, cast from the same mould as Bakusouryuu's boots. Purely aesthetic.
- Heel - Dragon Claws: A pair of long struts that extend backwards from the rear of each foot, acting as stabilizers that allow Rekkouryuu to remain standing unsupported while equipping and fully loading large magazines.
- DHB Armor: Included with the D-37 Rekuso DHB set, Rekuso's exclusive DHB Armor is cast in red with red and yellow sticker details and a clear yellow Sight Shield.
- Solar Rekuso - Hasbro-exclusive colourway with a yellow IBA Body and black armor parts.
- Electronic Rekuso DHB - Hasbro-exclusive set equipped with deco-matched Electronic DHB Armor featuring battery-powered lights and sounds when shooting or being hit in Direct Hit Battle play.
Fiction
Rekuso first appears when Li uses its rapid fire capabilities to challenge Yamato Delgado and Bull Borgnine. Due to the circumstances, it is combined with its brother B-Daman, Bakuso, into the fearsome Bakurekuso. It is later seen to have accuracy capabilities, as it was able to score a perfect 100 in Shoot the Gap.
Rekkouryuu's first appearance is in episode 4, Ice to Meet You, and its last appearance is in episode 49, Into the Neo-Shadow Den.
It is able to use the Crimson Nova technique. Its combined form with Bakusouryuu, Bakuretsuryuu, can use the Tornado Defense technique that creates multiple tornadoes that can reflect opponent's shots.

Trivia
- Although not the lineage founder, Rekkouryuu established the Red Dragon lineage's functional identity as a line of rapid-fire-oriented B-Daman. Its predecessor, Kouseiryuu, was instead built around a Left Tornado Core and featuring a short barrel, large high-stability foot parts, and a tall control-oriented trigger.
- Although the Hasbro name "Rekuso" is clearly derived from the Japanese "Rekkouryuu", linguistic differences result in the english-language name sounding slightly ridiculous and vulgar to a Japanese-speaking audience.
